A template is simply a text file in the format required for the application to receive information from CSRDS. Normally this will be an XML, HTML, Character Separated Values (CSV) file, but it can be any file that can be viewed using a text program such as NotePad.

While you can create template files as required, the Center Stage installation includes the following templates:

      

RDS.XML This template is used to send Now Playing metadata for use on your web site. This template can be used as is or modified by your web developer to meet their needs.
HISTORY.XML This template is used to create a list of songs recently aired for use on your web site. This template can be used as is or modified by your web developer to meet their needs.
STW.TXT This template is used for the TCP/IP connection to Stream The World on port 31313. This template MUST NOT be modified as it meets the specifications for this stream.
STWCUE.TXT This is the template used for the HTTP connection to Stream The World on port 31314. This template MUST NOT be modified.
ANDO.TXT This is the template used for the feed to ANDO for commercial substitution. This template MUST NOT be modified.

Depending on your needs, up to 3 templates can be used in any one instance of CSRDS. Typically this would be one for the Web Now Playing, one for the Web History and one for the Stream. In all cases, this file can also be saved on the local network for use in other applications.

 

For network users that would like to ensure all sites are using the same format, the template can be saved on the networks web site and CSRDS will download and use the common template. CSRDS also monitors the web site for changes to the template and will re-download the template should changes be made.
